1. The government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) welcomes the fact that the documents of the transitional period were signed by the Transitional Military Council and the Forces of Freedom and Change on August 17, creating a breakthrough toward the establishment of a civilian-led government desired by the Sudanese people.

° In particular, the ROK government notes that a peaceful agreement was reached through dialogue among various groups of stakeholders in Sudan as well as mediation by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the African Union.

2. The ROK government hopes that the stipulations in the documents will be fulfilled, moving Sudan’s democratization process smoothly forward; and that peace, stability and prosperity will be established in Sudan in the near future.
