1. On the occasion of the 2019 ASEAN-related Foreign Ministers’ Meetings, Amb. Lee Do-hoon, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, had a bilateral meeting with Mr. Stephen Biegun, Special Representative for North Korea of the United States (U.S.), in Bangkok, the Kingdom of Thailand, on July 31.

2. Both sides exchanged assessments on the current situation, including the launch of short-range ballistic missiles by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on July 31.

° The two sides shared the understanding that early resumption of the working-level negotiation between the U.S. and North Korea is crucial at this juncture, and agreed to make diplomatic efforts to that end.
