Minister of Foreign Affairs to Attend OECD’s 2019 Ministerial Council Meeting (May 22-23, Paris)

1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha will attend, as head of the delegation of the Republic of Korea*, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)’s annual Ministerial Council Meeting, to be held under the theme “Harnessing Digital Transition for Sustainable Development: Opportunities and Challenges” in Paris, the French Republic, from May 22 to 23.

 

* The delegation will also include 1st Vice Minister of Economy and Finance Lee Ho-seung, 2nd Vice Minister of Science and ICT Min Won-ki, and Minister for Trade Yoo Myung-hee.

 

2. During a high-level panel on May 22, Minister Kang will present her views on the global economic outlook and the implications of digital transition. On May 23, she will chair a session on “Realising the Digital Promise for Sustainability and Well-being.”

 

3. In addition, at a reception and dinner to be hosted by Chair and Vice-Chairs (the Slovak Republic, Canada and the ROK) on May 22, Minister Kang will forge closer friendship with head delegates from major countries participating in the OECD meeting. On May 23, the Minister will hold a reception to extend encouragement to Korean staff members working for the OECD and UNESCO.

 

4. On the occasion of the Ministerial Council Meeting, Minister Kang will meet with her Japanese and Peruvian counterparts, and hold the 3rd ROK-France ministerial strategic dialogue.
