Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Lee Do-hoon to Visit Russia and EU
1. Amb. Lee Do-hoon, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, will visit Saint Petersburg, the Russian Federation, on March 19 and hold a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Igor Morgulov in their capacity as the Republic of Korea and Russian head delegates to the Six-Party Talks.
o In the meeting, the two sides will exchange views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula after the second United States-Democratic People’s Republic of Korea summit, and discuss ways the two countries can work together to achieve complete denuclearization and to establish a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
2. In addition, Special Representative Lee will visit the European Union’s headquarters in Brussels in the Kingdom of Belgium from March 20 to 21. During the visit, Special Representative Lee will attend an EU Political and Security Committee (PSC) meeting and meet with Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmid to share their assessments of the current situation on the Korean Peninsula. He will also consult on ways the ROK and the EU can collaborate to achieve complete denuclearization.
