Foreign Minister Attends as Panelist in the “Session on humanitarian and refugee issues in the Middle East” of “The Ministerial to Promote a Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East”

1. Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha joined as a panelist in the session on “humanitarian and refugee issues in the Middle East” of “The Ministerial to Promote a Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East” held in Warsaw, the Republic of Poland, on February 13 and 14. In the session, the Minister spoke of the Republic of Korea’s efforts to extend humanitarian contribution to the Middle East and exchanged with other participants views on issues concerning humanitarianism and refugees in the region.

 

The Ministerial, a multilateral meeting co-hosted by the governments of Poland and the United States, brought together 28 minister-level and other government delegates from some 60 countries across the world, including Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. It comprehensively covered various agenda items regarding the Middle East, including those concerning the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Yemen, Israeli-Palestinian issues, as well as humanitarian and refugee issues.

 

The aforementioned session featured keynote speeches by U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki. Its panelists included Minister Kang and her counterparts from the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Republic of Austria, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

 

2. On the occasion of the Ministerial, Minister Kang plans to hold bilateral foreign ministerial meetings with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Foreign Minister of Poland Jacek Czaputowicz.
