1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold an invitation program for overseas honorary consuls of the Republic of Korea from November 19 to 24. The purpose of this program for overseas honorary consuls, who are contributing to the protection of overseas Koreans and cooperation between the ROK and their home countries in economy, culture, education and various other sectors, is to boost morale of those honorary consuls and to strengthen their bond with the ROK.

° On November 20, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun will host a welcome dinner and offer encouragement to the honorary consuls.

2. Sixteen honorary consuls have been invited from 15 countries to this year’s program, during which they will be offered various opportunities to enhance their understanding of the ROK -- a meeting on the role of the overseas honorary consuls of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as visits to the inter-Korean demilitarized zone (DMZ), the Korean Folk Village, and such industrial facilities as the Samsung Innovation Museum.  

3. The invitation program for overseas honorary consuls, the upcoming 2018 round of which will mark the ninth since the first held in 2010, is expected to contribute to strengthening the pro-ROK network in the global community, better protecting the overseas Koreans and promoting substantive cooperation between the ROK and the home countries of the overseas honorary consuls.
