Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs to Hold ROK-US Meeting of Top Negotiators on North Korean Nuclear Issue during Visit to US

1. Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lee Do-hoon will visit Washington DC, the United States, from November 19 to 21 for a Republic of Korea-United States meeting of top negotiators on the North Korean nuclear issue with Special Representative for North Korea of the US Department of State Stephen Biegun.

 

2. In the upcoming meeting, the two sides, following up on their meeting held on October 29 during Special Representative Biegun’s visit to the ROK, will share assessments of the current situation on the Korean Peninsula; and discuss in depth ways to work together on Korean Peninsula issues, including in pursuing denuclearization and the establishment of a peace regime.

 

3. In the forthcoming meeting, the two sides will also fine-tune details regarding the composition of and ways to run “the ROK-US working group,” which the two countries agreed to establish at their previous meeting.
