1. The Cornerstone Dialogue, a public diplomacy program organized by the Foreign Ministry’s North American Affairs Bureau, took place under the theme “A Conversation on Peace, Friendship, and the Future” at Keimyung University in Daegu on November 12, with about 100 students and teachers in attendance.

2. At the event, head of the North America Division II of the Foreign Ministry Kim Il-bum and Brian Peterson, an official in charge of political affairs at the Embassy of the United States in the Republic of Korea, talked about the current situation on the Korean Peninsula, and foreign affairs issues; the ROK’s foreign policy and vision for a unified Korea; and the ROK-US alliance, and had a question-and-answer session with participating students.

3. Director of the International Lounge at Keimyung University Seanan Clifford said that the dialogue, as its name suggests, served as a cornerstone for understanding the ROK-US relations and their governments’ policies, and expressed hope that the event would take place at many other schools.

4. The Foreign Ministry will work to hold the Cornerstone Dialogue, a public diplomacy program to reach out to the people, at universities across the country, and promote the ROK’s policies and strengthen communications with younger generations.
