Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs to Visit US
1. Amb. Lee Do-hoon, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, will visit Washington DC, the United States, from October 21 to 23. During the visit, Special Representative Lee, together with Mr. Stephen Biegun, US Special Representative for North Korea, will hold a meeting in their capacity as chief negotiators of the Republic of Korea and the US on the North Korean nuclear issue. Special Representative Lee will also meet with other major officials of the US administration who handle matters concerning the Korean Peninsula.
2. In the meetings to come during the Special Representative’s visit to the US ahead of follow-up negotiations between the US and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the ROK and US sides will share with each other the outcome of Special Representative Lee’s recent visit to China as well as that of Special Representative Biegun’s tour of Russia and Europe, and will discuss possible next strategies for denuclearization and peace.
