1. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun met with a delegation from the American Jewish Committee (AJC), which was led by Director of the AJC's Asia Pacific Institute (API) Shira Loewenberg, at 17:30-18:00, October 15. In the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the Republic of Korea-United States relations, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, etc.

2. Vice Minister Cho extended appreciation to the AJC for steadily sending a delegation to the ROK since 2008 to maintain its relationship with the country; and asked the influential group in the US to continue to play an active role for further advances in the ROK-US ties.

3. Vice Minister Cho mentioned that although the situation on the Korean Peninsula had been very grave in late 2017, the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, followed by the inter-Korean and US-Democratic People's Republic of Korea summit talks, had helped create a positive turning point in the situation on the Korean Peninsula. He went on to say that this progress had been facilitated by close coordination between the ROK and the US.

° He asked the AJC and the rest of the US to pay attention to and support the ROK-US alliance so that it can continue to play its role as a linchpin for denuclearization and the establishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula.

4. API Director Loewenberg mentioned that the AJC is much interested in using youth and academic exchanges with the ROK to expand exchanges between various sectors of the ROK and the US; and, as a firm supporter for the ROK-US alliance, will continue work to enhance the bilateral relations and establish peace on the Korean Peninsula.
