1. Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam, who is on a visit to the United States, met with US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan on June 18, local time. Deputy Secretary Sullivan noted that strong ROK-US collaboration on North Korea helped bring about the recent changes in the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and said that the US will continue to closely communicate and cooperate with the ROK frequently at each level, as it makes related efforts going forward, including working-level negotiations between the US and North Korea.

4. On the evening of June 18, Vice Minister Lim had a dinner with officials handling issues on the Korean Peninsula at the diplomatic, security and defense authorities of the US, including Acting Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Susan Thornton, and encouraged them to facilitate close cooperation on North Korea, which is underway between high-level officials of the ROK and the US, at the working level as well.
