1. Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam will leave for Washington, the US, on June 17 to attend the third Republic of Korea-United States Strategic Forum to be co-hosted by the Korea Foundation and the US Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on June 18 and 19.

° At the Forum, the Vice Minister will deliver a keynote speech on the ROK government’s position regarding the recent denuclearization-related developments on the Korean Peninsula in the wake of the US-North Korea summit talks held on June 12.

2. In Washington, Vice Minister Lim will also meet with senior officials of the US administration for consultations on ways to follow up on the US-North Korea summit meeting; and will visit the US Congress for a meeting with members of the Congressional Study Group on Korea (CSGK).

The CSGK, a study group on Korea comprised of some 20 pro-Korea Federal Representatives, was formally launched in February 2018, becoming the fourth such group after those on Germany, Japan and the EU.

3. On the heels of his visit to Washington, Vice Minister Lim will head to Boston on June 19 for a seminar co-organized by the ROK Consulate-General in Boston and the Harvard University Belfer Center, in which he will exchange views with US academic experts on the current situation on the Korean Peninsula and share with them the ROK government’s position.

The seminar has been arranged as part of the ROK government’s public diplomacy projects designed to pursue a peaceful unification.
