1. Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha met with US Secretary of State Pompeo on June 14, and shared their assessments of the results of the US-North Korea summit on June 12. They also discussed how to deal with the denuclearization issue.

The two sides shared the view that the US-North Korea summit was a historic milestone in efforts to achieve the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and to establish a lasting peace on the Peninsula. The two sides shared the view that as the inter-Korean and US-North Korea summits were held successfully, it is important now to thoroughly prepare for follow-up negotiations to fully and swiftly implement the agreement reached at the summits, and agreed to continue to coordinate more closely at each level to devise their joint response strategies.
