1. Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Lee Do-hoon will visit Washington, the US, from May 9 till 12 for meetings with acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Susan Thornton and other major Korean Peninsula-related officials of the US administration.

2. During the Special Representative’s visit to the US, the Republic of Korea and the United States will share with each other their assessments of the outcome of the recent, successful inter-Korean summit talks and discuss ways to work together in implementing the “Panmunjeom Declaration.” The two countries will also discuss various ways to make a success of the forthcoming ROK-US and US-North Korea summit meetings and thereby achieve a complete denuclearization and a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula; and will coordinate a plan for a high-level ROK-US consultation.
