The Korea-Africa Foundation is a public agency tasked with long-term and comprehensive research and analyses on Africa, and promoting exchanges and cooperation with the African countries across the board.

- The Foundation will be established as an affiliate of the Foreign Ministry in 2018 pursuant to the “Korea-Africa Foundation act” in effect since October 31, 2017.

2. The Foundation’s chair Choi worked for the Foreign Ministry for some 35 years, serving as Ambassador to the South African Republic, Director-General for Planning and Management and Director for Foreign Mission, among others. In 2014, he chaired the preparatory and planning committee for the establishment of “the Korea-Africa Center,” the predecessor of the Foundation, playing an active role in the work to pave the way for the establishment of the Foundation.

° In the year 2018, when the Korea-Africa Foundation will be launched, by building on Mr. Choi’s experiences and knowledge, the Foundation is expected to render assistance to the ROK with its diplomacy toward Africa and to contribute to the ROK’s diplomatic diversification efforts.
