1. The government of the Republic of Korea has decided to offer through the Philippine Red Cross 200,000 US dollars in humanitarian assistance to some 80,000 Filipinos displaced by the volcanic eruption that occurred on Mt. Mayon in the central Philippine province of Albay in mid January.

° On January 22, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of the Philippines raised the volcano alert to level 4 (hazardous eruption imminent) from the previous level 3 (increased tendency to hazardous eruption).
