Foreign Ministry’s “Senior Public Diplomacy Group” Provides Voluntary Medical Service to People in Myanmar

1. The Foreign Ministry’s “senior public diplomacy group” offered voluntary medical service in Yangon and Naypyidaw, Myanmar, from December 14 through 19 in one of the Foreign Ministry’s “people as public diplomats projects for 2016.”

2. The public diplomacy activity was designed to provide free medical service to the locals and thereby to promote the relations between the Republic of Korea and Myanmar. Six members of the “senior public diplomacy group” and another six medical workers took part in the activity.

° The voluntary health service drew enthusiastic response from the locals, with local newspaper companies and broadcasters covering it.

3. The medical activity marked the first project conducted overseas by the Foreign Ministry’s second 37-member “senior public diplomacy group,” which plans to carry out more activities at a broader range of venues.
