1. Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour of Sudan will visit the Republic of Korea from October 31 to November 3.

° During the first visit to the ROK by a Sudanese Foreign Minister in 12 years, Minister Ghandour will hold a meeting with Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se, deliver a special lecture at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and attend a business forum to be hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among others.

2. On November 1, Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se will meet and exchange views with his Sudanese counterpart on matters of mutual concern, including ways to increase cooperation on economy, trade, development, education, culture and the international stage, as well as the situations on the Korean Peninsula and in Africa.

° With regard to the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the two top diplomats will also discuss ways to work together with the international community in pressuring North Korea in response to its fifth nuclear test.

3. Minister Ghandour’s visit to the ROK is expected to serve as an opportunity to review the progress in bilateral relations ahead of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2017 and discuss in depth ways to increase bilateral exchanges and cooperation.
