1. An “academy for public diplomacy” event took place on September 9 and another on September 23, bringing together participants in the Foreign Ministry’s “Citizens for Public Diplomacy” project for 2016, as well as general public in the second round. The academy events were organized for experts in such fields as foreign affairs, culture and broadcasting to deliver lectures to the “Citizens for Public Diplomacy” groups and for the participants to engage in relevant discussions, thereby helping the “Citizens for Public Diplomacy” groups enhance their expertise, raise their awareness on public diplomacy, and boost exchanges broaden networks among them.

2. Director-General for Cultural Affairs Choi Young-sam of the Foreign Ministry delivered remarks at the completion ceremony of the academy events, in which he commended the “Citizens for Public Diplomacy” groups for their robust activities; extended appreciation to them for making full use of their capacities as civilian diplomats at the events; and asked them to carry out their public diplomacy activities in a more vigorous manner.
