1. The Foreign Ministry adjusted its Travel-alert Level for Alpes-Maritime province, France, from the previous Level 1 or Blue Alert (Precautious), to Level 2, or Yellow Alert (Highly Cautious), effective from July 15.
° The adjustment of the travel advisory came as the terror-by-truck in Nice in France’s Alpes-Maritime province on July 14, local time, had killed many people; the alert level for the region has been upgraded from the previous “Vigilence” to “Alert Attentat”; and the national state of emergency in France has been extended.
2. The nationals of the Republic of Korea visiting or residing in Nice and the other parts of France’s Alpes-Maritime province are advised to pay serious heed to their safety. Those planning to visit the area are advised to seriously reconsider the need to travel.
3. On a related note, the Foreign Ministry rushed a two-member rapid response team to Nice by flight OZ 501 to check on damages and injuries sustained by ROK nationals in France and take other measures necessary for protecting Koreans in France.
