1. The government of the Republic of Korea welcomes that the parties to armed conflicts in Yemen have reached an agreement on a six-day humanitarian cease-fire on the back of the mediation of UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ahmed. The ROK government hopes that the parties, by building upon the agreement, will embark on full-fledged negotiations and establish permanent peace and stability in Yemen.

2. On a side note, six of the ROK nationals who had been staying in Taiz left Yemen on July 6, leaving few ROK nationals remaining in the country. Judging that there would be no more evacuation operations by sea, the ROK government will combine the Embassy in Yemen’s temporary office on the warship Wang Geon with the one in Dubai at the time when the Cheonghae Unit undergoes personnel changes on July 15, responding to the Yemeni situation in the Dubai office.

° The number of the ROK nationals remaining in Yemen, which stood at 23 at the time when the temporary offices were set up, stood at six -- four in Sanaa and two in Mukalla – as of July 10.

3. The warship Wang Geon of the Cheonghae Unit is conducting maritime security operations in the Gulf of Aden in the Arabian Sea. Amid the growing public insecurity in Yemen, the ROK government set up the Embassy in Yemen’s temporary offices in Dubai and on the warship on April 3 and have since carried out such affairs as protecting the ROK nationals remaining in Yemen.
