1. The 7th ROK-Kazakhstan Joint Economic Committee Meeting and the 7th ROK-Uzbekistan Trade and Economic Cooperation Committee Meeting will take place in Astana on May 27 and in Tashkent on May 29, respectively. In the Meetings, to which Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs Ahn Chong-ghee will lead the ROK delegation, the two sides will discuss economic and trade issues and cooperation projects.

2. In the two Meetings, the two sides will discuss overall economic and trade relations between the ROK and Kazakhstan and the ROK and Uzbekistan. They will also discuss projects to strengthen substantive cooperation between the two countries.

3. The ROK government, which is pursuing diplomacy of co-prosperity and cooperation toward Central Asia, will not only further promote existing cooperation in energy, such as oil and gas, but also work to find new areas for cooperation that can bring benefits to both sides. In its meeting with Kazakhstan, the ROK side will discuss ways for Korean companies to participate in industrial projects related to the Astana Expo 2017 (railway, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), etc.). In its meeting with Uzbekistan, the ROK side will discuss cooperation in a range of areas, including solar power generation, agriculture and defense industry.
