1. On the sidelines of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) Summit in 
Astana, Kazakhstan, on December 1-2, Foreign Minister Kim Sung-Hwan met with his Turkmen 
counterpart Rashid Meredov on December 2 for a discussion on ways to promote Korea-
Turkmenistan relations.

2. The two Foreign Ministers expressed satisfaction with recent, rapid development of friendly and 
cooperative ties between Korea and Turkmenistan, as can be seen by an increase in trade, and 
cultural and people-to-people exchanges as well as those between their ranking officials. They 
agreed to boost substantive cooperation between the two countries in the energy and infrastructure 
sectors.
