1. The Government of the Republic of Korea welcomes and supports that the Kingdom of the Netherlands 
and North Korea have agreed to establish the diplomatic relations on January 15, 2001. The Korean 
government believes that it will contribute not only to the improvement of the relations between the 
Kingdom of the Netherlands and North Korea, but also to the enhancement of peace and stability on the 
Korean peninsula through reconciliation and cooperation currently undergoing between South and North 
Korea. 

2. The Korean government appreciates that the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has 
maintained close consultations with the Korean government in the course of improving its relations with 
North Korea.
