1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha spoke over the phone with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Motegi Toshimitsu for around 20 minutes on the morning of January 9, and exchanged views on issues regarding the ruling on the civil action filed by the "comfort women" victims.
2. Foreign Minister Motegi explained Japan’s position, and Foreign Minister Kang explained the Korean government’s position that has already been made clear and asked the Japanese government to refrain from an excessive response.
3. The two Foreign Ministers agreed to continue close communication between the diplomatic authorities on various bilateral issues including the ruling.
