1. Amid the continued spread of COVID-19 around the world, the government of the Republic of Korea is providing 12 million U.S. dollars in humanitarian assistance to 32 countries in addition to its assistance of about 41 million U.S. dollars to 97 countries so far. 21 countries out of 32 are expected to receive additional assistance in combating COVID-19.

° In particular, the plan includes providing assistance to 18 Latin American countries, which are severely affected by COVID-19. For countries in the Caribbean that are facing difficulties in tackling COVID-19, the assistance will be offered through the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

° Also, for countries, such as the Republic of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, whose social and economic situations are being aggravated by the spread of COVID-19, the ROK government will extend additional assistance to help them overcome the challenges that became more complex due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2. The ROK government has implemented humanitarian assistance in a way that does not affect disease prevention and control efforts at home. Once the ROK completes this humanitarian project, it will have extended humanitarian assistance to a total of 108 countries for COVID-19 response.

3. The ROK government, based on a comprehensive review of COVID-19 developments and the extents of the scale of the COVID-19 outbreak in countries, will continue to take part in the international community’s efforts to overcome the COVID-19 crisis by extending humanitarian assistance to countries in need.
