ROK and Romanian Presidents Exchange Celebratory Letters to Mark 30th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

1. President Moon Jae-in and President of Romania Klaus Werner Iohannis exchanged celebratory letters on March 30 to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Romania.


2. President Moon welcomed the fact that the ROK and Romania have steadily expanded and advanced cooperation in various areas, including political, economic, social and cultural affairs, since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1990, and, particularly took note of the lately strengthening cooperation in such fields as nuclear power plants, education and culture.


° The President also voiced hope that the “Strategic Partnership” between the two countries will continue to further deepen and advance.


3. President Iohannis, stressing that the development of bilateral relations with the ROK is one of Romania’s key priorities in foreign policy, noted with appreciation that the two countries are engaging in dynamic dialogue and beneficial cooperation on the international stage.


° In addition, the President expressed the commitment to fulfilling the potential for the development of the bilateral relations, and emphasized that the everlasting friendship between the two countries will serve as its basis.
 

4. The two countries have been continuing international collaboration to curb the spread of COVID-19 and to effectively respond to it. Recently, arranged by the ROK government, a contract was concluded for a Korean company to export testing kits to Romania.
