1. Amb. Lee Do-hoon, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had a telephone consultation with Mr. Stephen Biegun, Deputy Secretary of State and Special Representative for North Korea of the United States (U.S.), on the morning of February 27, at the latter’s request.

2. The two sides shared assessments of the situation that has unfolded on the Korean Peninsula to date since the consultation held between the chief negotiators of the Republic of Korea and the U.S. on the North Korean nuclear issue in Washington DC in January, and discussed ways to achieve substantial progress toward complete denuclearization and the establishment of permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.

3. The two sides agreed to continue close coordination in various ways at each level.
