Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, in Singapore from July 31 to August 4 to attend ASEAN-related Foreign Ministers' Meetings, held a series of bilateral ministerial meetings with her Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia and Brunei counterparts on August 1, and exchanged with them views on promoting ROK-ASEAN cooperation; issues regarding the Korean Peninsula; and measures to promote bilateral relations with each respective country.

Foreign Minister Kang explained the key points of the New Southern Policy, which the ROK government is pursuing to innovatively advance relations with ASEAN, the government’s current accomplishments regarding the policy, and plans for a commemorative ROK-ASEAN summit in 2019, and requested the support of each respective country.
