ㅇ ASEAN member countries have requested for a mitigation of quarantine requirements and reduction of
Adjustment Tariff Rates to promote exports of agricultural and fishery products to Korea.
※ Import volume of agricultural and fishery products from ASEAN (unit: US$ billion) : 0.70(2000) →
0.75(2001) → 0.77(2002) → 0.91(2003) → 1.1(2004) → 1.2(2005)
ㅇ In response to such requests, the Korean government explained to the ASEAN side that the quarantine
measure is presently being imposed only to the extent of protecting public health, agriculture and
environmental ecology. At the same time, the Korean government has made efforts to share quarantine
related technology and information with ASEAN authorities, as well as to shorten the quarantine period.

fishing communities, as well as the trade relations with ASEAN.
